Why It’s So Important To Help Others in Need

Helping others is an essential part of what it means to be human. We are all connected to every other person on the planet, as we all have similar experiences throughout our lives. Consider all of the hardships you’ve experienced in your own life. You’ll probably realize that there were many different people who helped you persevere through those times.

Now, think about all of the accidents, emergencies, disasters, and overall suffering that people around the world endure every day. Without help from others, they may be left to struggle through those situations on their own. In this article, we’ll take a closer look at the importance of helping others

The Importance of Helping Others

Helping others in need is an essential aspect of building strong, supportive communities across the globe. This can take many forms, like lending a hand to someone in your neighborhood, donating to a worthy cause, or volunteering your time and energy. No matter what you do, the act of helping others can have a profound and lasting impact on both you and those you help. Here are some reasons why people helping each other is so important:

  • Make the World a Better Place - First and foremost, helping others allows you to make a difference in the world and the lives of those in need. This not only helps these individuals who are struggling in these situations, but it also promotes empathy and compassion as a whole throughout the world.

By helping others, we are contributing to a better society and creating a

safer, more just and equitable world for everyone. Whether it's by supporting

people who are struggling with poverty, homelessness, or other social

issues, or by volunteering our time and energy to help other important

causes, we are making a positive impact on the world around us, ultimately

making the world a better place.

  • Create a Sense of Belonging and Connectedness - When we help others, we feel like we are part of something bigger than ourselves, and this can bring a sense of purpose and fulfillment to our lives. It's also a great way to build and strengthen relationships with others, as the act of giving creates a bond between people that can last a lifetime.

By putting ourselves in someone else's shoes and understanding their

struggles and challenges, we develop a deeper appreciation for the

experiences and perspectives of others. This can help us build more

inclusive and respectful communities, where everyone is valued and

respected.

  • Improved Mental Health and Overall Well-Being - Helping others can also have a positive impact on our own mental and physical health. Research has shown that volunteering and helping others can reduce stress and depression, lower blood pressure, and increase feelings of happiness, satisfaction, and well-being. In fact, studies have found that the more we give, the happier we are. While the primary focus should always be to help others in need, receiving these benefits yourself is an extra advantage of supporting those who are struggling.

  • Jesus Instructed Us To Help Others - One of the main reasons we should help others in need is because Jesus instructed us to and it is a central part of being a Christian. Throughout the Bible, God and Jesus’ teachings often focus on helping the poor, downtrodden, and needy. Here are a few examples of these instructions in the Bible:

Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who

wants to borrow from you.” — Matthew 5:42

In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help

the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more

blessed to give than to receive.’” — Acts 20:35

Jesus looked at him and loved him. ‘One thing you lack,’ he said. ‘Go, sell

everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in

heaven. Then come, follow me.’” — Mark 10:21

As Christians, we should follow in Christ’s footsteps and spread love throughout the world by helping others. One of the ways we can best help others is by making charitable contributions to nonprofit organizations and charities that are doing important work.

Charitable giving is an opportunity to bless others as Christ blessed us. It’s also an important part of a sound financial plan. The Canadian National Christian Foundation provides philanthropic advice and wants to connect God’s money with God’s work.
